Michel Buffet, Ph.D.

Michel is a managing partner at Fisher Rock Consulting. He advises and works with senior leaders and HR executives on custom talent management solutions, with a special focus on the design and delivery of competency models, leadership assessment, onboarding processes, executive coaching, and organizational design. He also specializes in assisting senior management teams in developing strategy, gaining alignment within the organization. For over 10 years Michel has worked with close to 50 different organizations, many of which are global 1000 organizations, including Bristol-Myers Squibb, British Telecom, Codelco, Johnson & Johnson, Kimberly- Clark, The New York Times Company, Siemens Medical Solutions, Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Time Warner and Wyeth. Michel received his PhD in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University and a DESS in Clinical Psychology from University of Paris VII in France. He is a member of the Association for Psychological Science, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the French-American Chamber of Commerce in New York. He is bilingual in French and English, fluent in Spanish.

Daniel R. Fisher, Ph.D.

Dan is a managing partner at Fisher Rock Consulting and a licensed NY State Psychologist. He has extensive experience designing and implementing change processes for clients in many industries. He is recognized most for his work as an assessment specialist, providing senior executives with critical insights and information on their own developmental needs, as well as information to companies on their own organization and the executives they are considering hiring or promoting. Dan also has extensive experience coaching executives and their teams and facilitating leadership development programs and change management offsites. A partial list of the clients he has worked with to date includes Bank of America, BNP Paribas, Silver Lake Partners, MatlinPatterson, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, General Electric, MasterCard, Microsoft, McGraw-Hill, DoubleClick, Johnson & Johnson, Schering Plough, Merck, Cisco, eBay, and Owens Corning. Dan received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and completed his pre and post-doctoral internships at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Joanna Rock, Ph.D.

Joanna is a managing partner at Fisher Rock Consulting and an Industrial Organizational Psychologist with extensive experience and expertise in Competency Modeling, Organizational and Executive Assessment, and Management and Employee Selection. She has assisted companies such as Novartis, Agilent Technologies, Becton Dickinson, Schering Plough, Nestle Purina, American Express, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and Charles Schwab in personnel selection and development. Her Corporate experience has included Director, Organization and Management Development, PepsiCo International where she was responsible for the Organization Survey Process, Performance Management, Career Development and Leadership Development. Prior to joining PepsiCo International, Joanna was a Senior Manager at Aon Consulting. At Aon she designed, implemented and validated executive assessment, leadership development, selection, performance management and training programs for a variety of clients in industries such as financial services, travel, technology and computers, medical catalogue sales, and insurance. In addition, she conducted executive assessment, leadership development and training programs both internally, for Aon staff, and externally for clients. Prior to working at Aon, Joanna was an Assistant Vice President at Chase Manhattan Bank. At Chase work areas included the employee survey program, management development programs and rewards and recognition. Joanna has a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from New York University.

Randye Farmer, MBA

Randye is a Senior Director at Fisher Rock. She has extensive experience in strategy implementation, organizational change, governance, management process, and executive coaching. Having been a line P&L leader at Citibank and a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Randye brings her extensive leadership experience to her corporate, consulting and not-for-profit clients. Randye assists leaders in navigating their organizations through large-scale change in order to deliver on their vision and business objectives. As a trusted advisor, Randye enables leaders to inspire stakeholders, increase employee capabilities and realign performance measurement. She has partnered on challenges as diverse as mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, global digital business reorganization, global cost savings and expanding consulting service delivery capacity. Larry Wiesler, MBA

Larry is a hands-on professional with over 25 years of senior-level marketing, operations, and finance experience. He has successfully managed P & L’s from startups to over $100MM in revenue and has built teams, systems and processes that have enabled firms of all sizes to scale profitably. He has worked in the fields of consumer-packaged goods, luxury goods, entertainment software, toys, consumer electronics, travel and finance as well as across digital, traditional and experiential channels. Larry’s highly collaborative and practical approach to business inspires trust, partnership and productivity in the teams that work with him and delivers results. He advises large company division heads and start-up founders in a range of industries to help them optimize their organizational structures, workflow processes and internal communications. He often works with these leaders to identify strategic and operating challenges and opportunities, develop strategies and plans, and implement needed changes.
For the past 10 years, Larry held senior management roles at top-tier agencies Renegade, Sapient and Organic and worked with key clients that include: Polo Ralph Lauren, The Coca Cola Company, PepsiCo, Kobrand Spirits, Constellation Brands, Sony, Panasonic, IBM, Microsoft, Hallmark, Macy’s, United Airlines, and HSBC. Prior to that, Larry held senior marketing positions at Ubisoft, Frito-Lay ( a Pepsico division), and Galoob Toys. Bill Pearson, MBA

Bill’s consulting work focuses on helping clients achieve material, lasting performance improvements. He has worked extensively with portfolio and target investments of leading private equity firms including Veronis Suhler Stevenson, Halyard Capital, Nautic Partners, Zelnick Media, JP Morgan Capital Partners, KKR, Bain Capital, Thomas H. Lee Partners, and Catalyst Investors. Bill’s previous experience includes being a guest Lecturer in Economics at Harvard University, former Chairman of Adina, Inc. a leading specialty beverage company; former Vice Chairman of Icelandic Broadcasting/Northern Lights Communications, the leading communications company in Iceland; former President and CEO of RadioWave.com, Inc., a media technology company, and former co-founder, CFO, and co-CEO of Broadcasting Partners, Inc., a publically held radio broadcasting company. Also former Operating Affiliate of McCown De Leeuw & Co., Managing Director of Commonwealth Holdings, Inc., and acting Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Product Development at Prodigy, Inc. Paul Sale

Paul is a senior consultant with over 25 years experience, with a proven track record of helping businesses, individuals, and management teams maximize their full potential. Paul specializes in executive coaching, leadership development and assessment and has in depth experience working with C suite executives, including helping Cisco select a new CFO and creating the structure to facilitate a smooth transition.
Paul has held diverse senior HR generalist positions with three Fortune 500 companies: Cisco Systems, Fidelity Investments and Federated Macy’s. He has a proven track record for producing outstanding business results within competitive, fast paced business environments, while effectively balancing the needs of the business, customers and employees.
Paul was educated in England where he studied psychology at Guildford College, and did further studies in the US. Paul is currently a member of the NC Lieutenant Governor’s taskforce for STEMS education and is a member of the Red Cross. Paul previously served on the advisory board for Hospice of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative and was a Partner with GK Gawad Kalinga - Homes for the Homeless.

Rick Cavalli, MBA

 

Rick specializes in rebuilding start-up and middle market companies. He has more than twenty years of know-how in collaborating with C-Level Executives, Boards of Directors, Private Equity, and Venture Capital investors, as an operating executive and a business advisor. His strengths are his abilities to expeditiously and effectively understand a company’s underlying business realities determine the appropriate end game, align organizations to execute strategy and motivate talent to achieve beyond their own expectations.
His experience includes operational roles as CEO, President, COO, CSO, and a Director of the Board in a wide range of industries that encompasses business and professional services, telecommunications and Internet, scientific and medical devices, manufacturing, engineering and development, and consumer goods.
Rick began his career in (re)building companies as the Director of Strategy for Lockheed Martin where the company grew from a $50M to $1B business in 3 years. Subsequently he was recruited to become the Director of Strategy for Olympus where the company grew its Latin America business revenues from $150M to $250M in two years and the Global Digital Camera Business became the market leader worldwide in 3 years with over $1B in revenues.
Prior to the founding of Black Box Principals, Rick served as the Director/Principal for the leading Boutique Strategy firms of Braxton Associates, GeoPartners Research, ZEFER, and Archstone Consulting where he advised Fortune 1000 company executives, Corporate Venture and Professional Venture Funds, and middle market companies in strategy and shareholder value creation.

Brittany Boyd, M.S.

Brittany possesses a masters degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Baruch College, CUNY, where she is currently completing her doctoral studies. She has experience working with various organizations providing a broad variety of consulting services including assessment, executive development, competency modeling, performance appraisals, and survey research. Some of the organizations Brittany has worked with include NERA, MatlinPatterson Asset Management, Right Management, Mercer, CIBA, Sandra Hartog & Associates, and Fenestra. Charles Scherbaum, Ph.D. Director of Research

Charles is Director of Research with Fisher Rock Consulting. He received his B.S. in psychology from the University of Washington, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology from Ohio University. He is currently an associate professor at Baruch College.
His academic research focuses on issues of diversity in the context of employee selection, measuring individual differences, and assessing employee attitudes. His research examines sources of bias and construct irrelevant variance on standardized and cognitive tests, non-cognitive predictors of job performance, detecting lying and dishonest responding, attitudes toward stigmatized employees, alternative validation strategies, attitude measurement, linking employee attitudes to organizational outcomes, and employee selection. His academic and consulting research draws heavily on recent advances in analytical and methodological techniques, and computer technology.

He teaches courses in statistics, industrial and organizational psychology, human resource management, statistics, and psychometrics in the United States, Singapore, and Taiwan in undergraduate, masters, executive, and Ph.D. programs.

Marcie Elias, M.A., JD

Marcie is a Senior Consultant with Fisher Rock Consulting. She advises and counsels investors, CEOs and senior executives on the psychological dimensions of leadership and organizational life, and works with executive management teams from a similar vantage point to help them function and lead more effectively. Drawing on her training in individual and organizational psychology and psychoanalysis, Marcie utilizes her knowledge of internal, interpersonal and group dynamics to help organizations achieve optimal performance through their people. Her previous experience as a practicing attorney enables her to bring an analytical and solution-oriented perspective to complex organizational matters.Marcie works with teams and individuals across a diverse spectrum of industries. She has worked extensively with pharmaceutical, financial, manufacturing, fashion and beauty, media and entertainment and technology companies. In her executive assessment and coaching practice, she works with business leaders and senior executives on developing their repertoire of leadership and management competencies, as well as on defining and achieving their professional aspirations. She also works with executive leadership teams that are leading their organizations through periods of significant growth and change.

Marcie holds a Masters degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, a law degree from New York University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Emory University. She is presently completing her psychoanalytic training at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis. Ed McDougal

Ed has a diverse management and business background. A trained commercial lender, he held significant line management and human resource positions at several major banks, including Bankers Trust Company (Vice President,), National Westminster Bank (now part of BankAmerica) (Executive Vice President/Member of the Management Committee,) and Lehman Brothers (Chief Administrative Officer, Trading Services). Through these roles he gained significant experience in quality improvement, customer service, re-engineering, organizational design and organizational development. For the past several years, Ed has been working as a consultant in the areas of management development and executive coaching, especially at the senior officer level. Ed has advised senior executives at companies including McGraw-Hill, Time Warner Cable, Bristol Meyers, Morgan Stanley, Swiss Re, Banc Julius Baer, Agfa, Pitney Bowes and Xerox. It is Ed’s philosophy that the only gauge of coaching success is sustained changes in behavior. Training to change behavior usually fails. The only way to change behavior on a sustained basis is to change motivation and attitude. Ed is very “rubber-on-the-road” orientated - believing that development must occur in the context of the work that needs to get done. Ed received his BA from Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception and attended the Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management at Dartmouth College.

Anna Marie Valerio, Ph.D.

Anna Marie Valerio, Ph.D., is a Senior Consultant specializing in executive coaching and leadership development. Her areas of expertise include one-on-one coaching, organization and individual assessment, women’s leadership, and performance management. Anna Marie’s background includes more than twenty years of management and consulting experience in a variety of organizations and with Fortune 500 clients. Her corporate experience includes working in IBM with the CEO’s direct reports to build worldwide leadership capability. Prior to joining IBM, she had responsibility for various strategic HR functions in Sony and Verizon. Anna Marie’s latest book, Developing Women Leaders: A Guide for Men and Women in Organizations, was published by Wiley/Blackwell in October, 2009. Her prior book, co-authored with Robert J. Lee, is Executive Coaching: A Guide for the HR Professional. Published by Wiley/Pfeiffer in 2005, it is a practical guide to learn more about coaching and how best to use it in organizations. Dr. Valerio is a licensed psychologist and a member of The Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology, The New York Metropolitan Association for Applied Psychology, and The Society of Consulting Psychology. Anna Marie has made numerous presentations at professional conferences.

Gary Dumais, PsyD. SPHR

Gary is an accomplished organizational psychologist with expertise in Fortune 500 talent assessment, executive coaching, leadership development, and human resource management. In addition to his work as a Consultant for distinguished human capital consulting firms such as Personnel Decisions International (PDI), Gary is also possesses first-hand leadership experience and a broad knowledge of the human resources field as he has held responsibility for managing the HR function of a financial services company. Moreover, he has also gained valuable industry-specific experience working with companies in the medical technology, health, hospitality, retail, and energy markets. Perhaps most notably, Gary has a proven ability to collaborate with senior management to support corporate initiatives and achieve business goals, and he has successfully designed and implemented strategic programs for talent acquisition, selection, retention, development, and succession planning. Gary earned his Doctorate in Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, and he received his Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Health and Human Services from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Christopher Sloan, Ph.D.

Chris is a licensed organizational psychologist who consults to business leaders on issues of organization effectiveness and talent management. His consulting engagements are tailored to the unique business needs and circumstances of each client organization, while also leveraging the combination of recognized best practices and twenty-plus years’ experience working with a wide variety of corporate clients.

Chris specializes in leadership enhancement and his areas of expertise include executive assessment and selection, “high-potential” identification and development, succession planning, and one-on-one executive coaching. He brings a combination of technical expertise and a practical perspective to each engagement and his base of consulting experience spans multiple industries, including high-technology, insurance and financial services, manufacturing and construction, telecommunications, hospitality, as well as organizations in the non-profit sector. Over the past 25 years Randy has worked on issues impeding organizational growth and success. He uses executive assessment, leadership coaching, succession planning, and team building to address complex people and organizational issues. He has assessed +3000 senior executives, consulted on many CEO successions, and coached over 100 executives. Randy spent nine years with Oliver Wyman Delta (OWD), an organization change and leadership development firm, as a Partner in their Leadership Capabilities practice. Prior to joining OWD, he was a Principal at Mercer HR Consulting and led their Leadership Development practice. Before OWD, Dr. Cheloha was a senior consultant with an international firm of management psychologists. Madeline Fredrickson Craig, Ed.D.

Madeline is a seasoned human resources professional with over 15 years experience in the financial services industry. She has extensive experience in the training and development of employees at all levels from clerical to senior management, including design, facilitation and evaluation of programs. In addition, she has worked in numerous aspects of the human resources arena, serving as human resource generalist, college recruiter, training manager, evaluation specialist and organizational development consultant. Madeline was a Vice President at JP Morgan Chase, and is currently an adjunct professor at Adelphi University in Garden City. Madeline holds an Ed.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University in Adult Education and a M.A. from New York University in Industrial/ Organization Psychology.

Allison B. Hoffman, Ph.D.

Allison is an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist and talent management consultant with over 12 years experience in corporate and consulting organizations. Her work has focused on talent management, selection system design and validation, skills assessment, competency modeling, executive assessment and development, and development and administration of training programs. Allison spent over 10 years working as a consultant for the distinguished human capital consulting firm Aon Consulting. She currently serves as a faculty member at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where she teaches a variety of courses in Psychology and Professional Development. Throughout her consulting career she worked with wide variety of industries including Automotive, Financial, Government, Healthcare, and Telecommunications as well as position types from entry level through upper level management/executive. These experiences allow her to easily establish credibility, develop rapport and partner with diverse personnel. She received her Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and her Bachelor degree in Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York.

Bill Battle, Ph.D.

Bill is a New York based Industrial Psychologist and management consultant. His focus is delivering customized management systems/processes, with special emphasis in the areas of selection, assessment, leadership development, performance management, and training. He has conducted projects on behalf of several consulting firms (such as The Hay Group, Sirota and Associates, Towers-Perrin, and Aon Consulting) and for a variety of private and governmental organizations. Bill received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from New York University.

Jake Weiss

Jake has over 20 years experience in talent managment/organizational development at three of the world's premier financial service firms. In his last role at Goldman Sachs -- where he worked for 21 years -- Jake was the Director of Global Talent Research.  His mandate was to use research to help the firm fight, and ideally win, the "war for talent."  More specifically, he looked at questions underlying the selection, development and retention of people, and what the firm could do to better align the three processes. Prior to this role, Jake was the Head of the Partner Practices Area and built  Goldman's partner/managing director review and selection processes -- arguably the best on the Street.
Since leaving Goldman in May '08, Jake has been consulting to clients such as KKR and Samson Capital Advisors. Jake has a BA in Anthropology from Wesleyan University and advanced graduate training in Anthropology (NYU), Public Management (Penn State), and Human Resources and Organizational Development (Columbia University an University of Michigan).

Harold Goldstein, Ph.D.

Harold is an Industrial Organizational psychologist and a nationally recognized expert on the development of legally valid selection systems. In addition to his work on personnel staffing and equal opportunity issues, he brings to his clients considerable expertise in leadership development and organizational culture issues. He is an associate professor of Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Baruch College, The City University of New York, where he currently serves as director of both the MS Program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and the Industrial/Organizational Psychology MBA Subprogram. He received his doctoral degree in I/O psychology from the University of Maryland at College Park. Harold has published articles on his research in journals such as Personnel Psychology , Journal of Applied Psychology, and Human Performance, and has presented his work at numerous conferences and invited talks. In addition, Harold serves as an expert for the United States Department of Justice on the application of legal issues in personnel selection processes. He has provided consulting services to such distinguished companies as Merck, Inc. AT&T, and Williams Sonoma.

David Radosevich, Ph.D.

David is an Industrial Organizational psychologist and assistant professor at Montclair State University with a joint appointment in the Department of Management and Information Systems as well as the Department of Psychology. Prior to coming to Montclair State University he was an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at Ohio State University. He serves as a consultant to organizations interested in maximizing the fit between people and jobs. His consulting work has been in the area of selection, training, needs assessment, and performance management. He has provided consulting services to such distinguished companies and organizations as Wal-Mart, Inc., New Jersey State Police, and the New York State Teachers' Retirement System. He received his B.A. in psychology from Western Maryland College in 1994 and his Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York in 1999.

Alandria Saifer, Ph.D.

Alandria is an organization and individual development specialist with expertise in the areas of management and executive coaching, organizational effectiveness and change, team learning and individual assessment and feedback. Ruth Schlosser, M.A.

Ruth is an Organizational Development Consultant and Executive Coach. Karen Steadman, Ph.D.

Karen is a licensed psychologist who advises talented organizations on how to work smarter in the right directions instead of continuing to work harder in the wrong directions. Through assessment and coaching she translates strategic needs into an aligned plan to obtain increased effectiveness tied to the business drivers. She specializes in performing due diligence assessments and optimizing leadership performance for specialty talent who are difficult to acquire and retain (i.e., investment banking and financial services, high tech R&D, GenX high potentials and senior women leaders). She has designed, staffed and delivered programs in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Africa and throughout Europe and Asia. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Georgia. She is a committee member for the doctoral program in applied psychology at Alliant International University, as well as a member of both the World Association of Business Coaches and the Center for International Studies. She has been a member of the Consulting Psychology Division of APA since 1997.

Sarah Brazaitis, Ph.D

Sarah is a licensed psychologist in the state of New York and has been a member of the faculty at Teachers College, Columbia University since 1998. She is currently the MA Program Director and a Lecturer in the Social and Organizational Psychology Program. Her consulting work focuses primarily on improving group and team performance, executive coaching, and leadership development. Clients have included for profit and not-for-profit organizations, universities, and medical centers. An aspect of her consulting practice includes her extensive experience providing training in group dynamics and group process, maximizing team performance, conflict resolution, and individual and group assessments (e.g. Myers-Briggs, FIRO-B, Hogan, 360 degree feedback). As an expert on group dynamics in social systems, Sarah has written articles and book chapters on conducting groups in education and health care settings. She has written about race as well as more broadly on multicultural issues. Sarah received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and her masters and doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Sam Dolinsky

Sam is an executive and leadership development consultant based in Ohio with over 35 years of practical experience in a broad array of human resource development functions working principally in manufacturing. He has held leadership roles both as a senior staff officer responsible for leadership and organization development as well as a senior HR generalist role in operations. Sam has designed, developed and deployed an array of custom solutions from individual executive coaching though enterprise wide programs and systems in performance management, leadership development, succession planning, organization development, and learning. His personal passion lies in “making a difference”, whether that is helping an executive realize his/her ambition or helping organizations optimize their corporate culture by aligning their practices with the values and beliefs they espouse and syndicating the accountability for sustaining that culture through the organization’s leadership. Sam’s platform and facilitation skills add an innovative dimension to his work with front line leaders, “high potentials” or executive audiences whether in the US, Asia/Pacific, Latin America or Europe. Sam is a graduate of the City College of New York with an MBA from the Baruch School of the City University of New York with a concentration in Industrial Psychology. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Cleveland Institute of Art as well as in an advisory capacity for non-profits focused on education and economic development in the region.
